Our Mission
While we are not a registered NDIS Provider, Starcycling Sunshine Coast supports the NDIS Outcomes Framework, specifically Capacity Building.
Our Mission is to promote:
- Increased social and community participation
- Improved relationships
- Improved health and well-being
- Improved learning
These Outcomes are promoted through:
Our initial interaction, a 'Meet and Greet', with all participants encouraged to greet each other, ask names etc.
During the activity we stop at a local café for breakfast. This is a time for social interaction where participants can talk and discuss topics that arise. They order from the menu themselves, interacting with the service staff.
We then discuss their dietary choices (Dietetics) and look at/discuss various healthy choices available on the menu.
The cycle ride itself increases health and well-being, as well as an improvement in skills. We use part of the time to teach/improve gear-changing, cycling skill, awareness of road rules, etc. Depending on the Participant's ability, we also look at developing their knowledge on how to maintain their bikes.
